Welcome to the Business Breakthroughs Green Room!
Here’s the phone number to dial in for the radio show: (323) 657-1491 1 (323) 657-1491
Cheryl will be on about 15 minutes early. You’re wlecome to join her early – anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes early is fine. When you call in,, she’ll see that your ‘hand is raised’ on her switchboard (you don’t have to do anything except dial in – it happens automatically). She’ll un-mute you and you’ll be able to talk back and forth before the show begins.
You’ll hear the blog talk radio voice giving you the countdown until the show goes ‘live’ and then there will be the blogtalk radio blurb, and Cheryl will start the show and welcome you.
Cheryl is delighted to have you as a guest for the show. This page was written to give you all the information you need to prepare for the show, and also to help Cheryl provide you with the best possible interview.
Here’s a list of what Cheryl needs from you:
A press packet – or:
1. A short bio – this can be two to three paragraphs long and should contain information about who you are, the name of your book (if you’re an author), and a little background information about how you got to be where you are today.
2. A press release – if you want us to submit it to online media distribution sites. (We reserve the right to tweak it a bit, and will send the updated version to you for approval before sending it out.)
3. An introduction – If you’d like Cheryl to use a special introduction – different from your bio, please include it and put ‘introduction’ at the top of the page.
4. A headshot of you, suitable for posting on the Web.
5. A jpeg of your book or product shot. Again, this should be suitable for posting on the Web.
6. A list of interview questions. (Please note, Cheryl has a very responsive audience, and she always asks for audience questions before each interview. If she receives enough questions from her audience, she will send you her list of audience questions before the show. (Usually within 1 – 3 days before.)
7. A copy of your book – or the program that you’re promoting. Because of the time constraints – and costs involved in international shipping, you can send a copy of your book in pdf format, so Cheryl can read it before your interview. Note: It’s not required that you complete this step, but Cheryl values the relationship she’s built with her audience, and they trust her to tell them the truth, so she won’t recommend products she hasn’t looked at or tried. When it comes to your book, she wants to be able to talk about it and as ‘intelligent’ questions, which she says she can’t do if she hasn’t read it. Books are read as quickly as possible and reviews are placed on Amazon.com, or if your book is being sold elsewhere, she’ ll post it to the Website of your choice.
8. Complete contact information. Your full name, title if any, the way you prefer to be addressed, your regular contact information, and an emergency number you can be reached at, as well as your skype name. Also, if you have an affiliate program that Cheryl has agreed to promote, please include a link to the relevant affiliate information. If you have an introduction that you’d like her to read on-air, please send it with the other materials, and preferably a couple of days in advance, so she has the time to get it down pat.
Please send this information to Janice at: janicehitalia.deleon@gmail.com
What To Expect During the Interview:
Length of Interview: 30 minutes
Cheryl’s Interview Style:
Cheryl prefers an informal back and forth interview style, as if the two of you were chatting over coffee. She asks leading, open-ended questions (based on the list you send her, or the questions from her audience), which are designed to give you ample opportunity to discuss your expertise and help you shine as the go-to-expert in your niche.
She will mention your Website and/or book several times during the program, inviting her audience to visit and sign up for more information, or to receive any bonuses or freebie you’re offering. Normally this means at the beginning of the program, at least once during the interview and then again towards the end. You are welcome to jump in and mention your book title as well, but please don’t answer questions with responses such as, “You’ll find the answer to that question in my book.” Cheryl’s audience is sophisticated and mature, and they expect and will respond to you if you provide value during your interview.
Depending on where you’re located, sometimes there is a delay of two seconds between conversations – Cheryl will be listening for it at the beginning of the interview, and will compensate accordingly with questions. (In other words, what you’re actually saying will be delayed in the recording by two seconds. It’s annoying, but it’s a result of the radio sound system, and the dead air doesn’t come through to listeners. If it happens, just remember to pause when you’re done with what you’re saying, and wait for Cheryl to ask the next question. (We’ve discovered it happens more often when you’re using Skype rather than a land line.)
If this will be your first time being interviewed, or you’ve got questions about how to prepare or what to do during the interview, please see our FAQ and Interview Tips Page.
And of course, if you’ve got questions, Cheryl invites you to get in touch with her at any time. Her private email is: cheryl.antier@gmail.com On Skype, you can find her as rainmaker4u. If you’re in the states and you’d like to call her, the toll free number to her service is: 888) 228-8923 – just leave a message, and she’ll get back to you. (She asked me to remind you to tell her what time zone you’re in, so she doesn’t end up calling you at 2 in the morning!)
